Anthem to contract directly with NPs, PAs in 2019

In 2019, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Virginia and our affiliate, HealthKeepers, Inc., will begin direct contracting and credentialing of nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs), so they may begin billing their services under their own 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI).  This effort will begin during the second quarter of 2019 and impact all our lines of business, including Medicare Advantage.
