PrEP Awareness Week

PrEP Awareness Week begins Monday, October 21! This year’s theme is PrEP for All Ages. The PrEP Aware Week website, https://prepforsex.org/, is now live with all of the 2024 PrEP Aware Week materials available for download, including the Social Media Toolkit!

As you may know, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication that can prevent the transmission of HIV. According to the CDC, one in four new cases of HIV are contracted in the 18 to 24 age range. The purpose of the PrEP Awareness Week is to expand awareness about PrEP among individuals of all ages, races, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

We want to highlight the PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) resources available to our care providers by the New York State Department of Health. These resources include a list of prescribing providers, clinical guidance, and patient educational material.
