Program Delay Announcement Authorizations for post-acute care services by Carelon Post Acute Solutions

Applicable to the following states:

Connecticut, Maine, and New Hampshire 

In the July 2023 edition of the Provider News, we announced a new prior authorization program for post-acute care (PAC) services administered by Carelon Post Acute Solutions, LLC that was scheduled to begin on October 1, 2023. Please note that the implementation of this program has been delayed. A new program date has not yet been determined.

An update will be provided at least thirty days prior to the start of this program. In the meantime, continue to contact Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for prior authorization requests for admission to or concurrent stay in a skilled nursing facility, an inpatient acute rehab facility, or a long-term acute care hospital. This applies to most Commercial individual, small group, and large group members.
