Provider Data Management capability on Availity coming for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield

This communication applies to the Commercial and Medicare Advantage programs from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) in Georgia.

Beginning May 2023, Anthem will use the Provider Data Management (PDM) capability on Availity Essentials* to verify and initiate care provider demographic change requests for all professional and facility care providers. Availity PDM is now the tool for care providers to submit demographic change requests, replacing the Provider Maintenance Form. Anthem will continue to process Provider Maintenance Form requests you have already submitted. Care providers are required to review and attest to directory data accuracy every 90 days. Please use Availity PDM for your next attestation. Availity PDM should also be used to submit demographic change requests as changes to your business occur.

What features does the capability provide?

PDM allows you to:

  • Update provider demographic information for all assigned payers in one location.
  • Attest and manage current provider demographic information.
  • Review the history of previously verified data.

Accessing the PDM application

Log onto Availity.com and select My Providers > Provider Data Management to begin the attestation process.

Administrator will automatically be granted access to PDM. Additional staff may be given access to PDM by an administrator. To find your administrator, go to My Account Dashboard > My Account > Organization(s) > Administrator Information. It is the responsibility of your organization’s administrator to manage who has access to make updates and/or changes to your provider data. Anthem cannot modify access nor permissions.

Training available 

Access the Availity Learning Center (ALC) and register for a course or webinar to take advantage of learning opportunities.

Follow these steps: 

  • Log in to Availity Essentials. (For login assistance, contact 800-282-4548 or your Availity administrator.)
  • Select Help & Training. Then, select Get Trained in the top navigation bar. 
    • The ALC displays in a separate tab/window.
  • Locate and select the learning option using one of these methods:
    • For live webinars, select Sessions at the top of the page. Then, select the month of the webinar. Once you’ve located Provider Data Management — Select Providers, select View Course
    • For on-demand courses, search by keyword or filter by category to locate the course.
  • Once the course is located, select Enroll

You’ll receive your registration confirmation by email from the ALC shortly after registering. For live webinars, you will also receive an email reminder from Zoom with the details to join prior to the session.
