City of New York Retirees transition to NYC Medicare Advantage Plus (Updated 12/3/21)
Beginning January 1, 2024, Empire became Anthem. This article, published under the former brand, now applies to Anthem.
Anticipated to begin in Q1 2022, City of New York Retirees will transition to NYC Medicare Advantage Plus offered through an alliance between Empire BlueCross BlueShield ("Empire") and EmblemHealth.
Approximately 240,000 Medicare-eligible City of New York retirees across the United States will transition to Retiree Health Alliance’s NYC Medicare Advantage Plus plan.
If you currently provide care to City of New York retirees you can continue to care for these retirees on the new NYC Medicare Advantage Plus plan whether or not you participate with Empire’s or EmblemHealth’s Medicare Advantage PPO networks.
