State of Connecticut employer group - BlueCare Prime update

Effective March 1, 2023, State of Connecticut members with the State Quality First Select Access plan with the State BlueCare Prime Network listed below will receive expanded access into Empire BlueCross BlueShield’s (Empire) HMO network. Members can be seen by providers who are participating in the Empire HMO network as in-network providers. Providers who are participating in Empire’s HMO network would submit claims directly to Empire.

 

State of Connecticut members will also continue to have BlueCard access into Empire’s traditional network. Providers who are participating in the traditional network only will submit claims via BlueCard. Please note, the blank suitcase in the sample ID card below which indicates their national out of area privileges. These members should be considered BlueCard eligible members and claims submission should follow those rules.
