Anthem to launch new provider data management system
New Provider Data Maintenance coming soon.
Once the new data management system is fully operational, Anthem will begin implementing the second stage of our systems improvement plan which includes integration with Availity Provider Data Management (PDM) functionality. Through this tool, providers can view, maintain, update, and attest provider demographic information is accurate for Anthem (and other health plans) in one easy-to-use portal. The PDM tool also features our simplified quick verification process, which allows providers to complete required verifications online – eliminating the need to fax or email. This second stage will roll out in phases beginning in June.

For those providers not already enrolled in Availity, we strongly encourage you to get started right away. Go to Availity.com to register and to find other helpful information about using Availity. Availity is Anthem’s secure provider portal platform where providers can enjoy the convenience of digital transactions including prior authorization submission, claims submission, as well as benefit and eligibility information.
System upgrades special notice.
Anthem will be implementing the above mentioned provider management system upgrade April 10 through April 16, 2021. Provider demographic updates submitted during this time will be processed after April 16, 2021. Providers should not see Anthem members prior to receiving notification that your update is finalized for the following transaction types:
- Address - Add Location
- Network Participation
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- Update Provider Name
As a reminder, if services are rendered to an Anthem member and claims are filed prior to the receipt of the completion date notification, Anthem is not obligated to adjust the affected claims nor are providers permitted to balance bill the member.
