Essential tips for accurate BlueCard claims

The BlueCard^® program provides a valuable service: It allows you to file all claims for members from other Blue Plans with us.

Tips for ensuring accurate member verification and claim submission:

• Always ask the member for their current member ID card (ID) and make sure you have a copy of both the front and back.
• Check for the three‑character prefix before the member’s ID number on the ID card. It’s critical to verify membership and coverage.
• Call BlueCard Eligibility toll‑free at 800‑676‑BLUE (2583) to verify the patient’s membership and coverage or submit an electronic HIPAA 270 transaction (eligibility) through Availity Essentials (https://Availity.com).
• Submit the claims directly to us, ensuring the patient’s complete identification number, including the three‑character prefix, is included.
• Contact us for any claim inquiries through Availity Essentials (https://Availity.com).
