Did you know? Referral requirements for students with University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) coverage

In order for non-emergency medical care to be covered for students under the University of California Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP), a referral must be obtained from their campus Student Health Center.

The following services are exceptions to the referral requirement, and do not require a student health center referral:  emergency care, urgent care, LiveHealth Online, pediatric dental or pediatric vision services for members under age 19, or services of a pediatrician, obstetrician, or gynecologist. UC Merced students do not require student health center referrals in order for care to be covered under the UC SHIP plan.
